Q: How does the MistAway System work?
A: The MistAway System operates similar to a lawn sprinkler system. We run a system of nozzles around the perimeter of the area you are looking to protect. Set on an automated timer, the system is set to spray pyrethrin twice a day at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active for 45 seconds each time. This can be adjusted based on your individual insect problem as it will also kill and repel flies, gnats, no-see-ums, fleas, ticks and other bothersome insects.
Q: What is pyrethrin?
A: pyrethrin is an insecticide derived from dried chrysanthemum flowers. It will repel insects from entering the area as well as kill off the population currently living in the area. The insecticide is rapidly degraded by sunlight and rain, leaving your property free of residue.
Q: What other applications is pyrethrin used in?
A: pyrethrin is used in horticulture and by organic crop farmers to control insects. It is also used in post harvest treatment of fruits and vegetables, shampoos for dogs, sprays and fogs for equestrian farms, and to protect stored foods.
Q: Are there any additional benefits to the MistAway System?
A: In addition to eliminating outdoor insects, MistAway delivers the added benefit of reducing indoor insects.
Q: Who would benefit most from the MistAway System?
A: Any home or business worried about the danger of biting insects and the diseases they carry will benefit from the MistAway System. When installed around homes, pool, patios, recreational areas, outdoor restaurants, stables and farms, the system controls the population of insects that bite.
Q: How long will it take for the system to become effective?
A: The system will start to work instantly from the very first mist cycle. During the first two weeks we will set the system to mist an additional one or two times depending on your individual needs. After the two weeks you will notice almost a 100% reduction of biting insects.
Q: Is pyrethrin safe for my kids and pets?
A: When used according to the label and only with the use of natural pyrethrin (not synthetic) it is the safest insecticide on the market. It has been used for over a quarter of a century in many instances.
Q: Will the pyrethrin harm my plants?
A: Our pyrethrin insecticides do not contain petroleum, which causes photo toxicity. This is not true of other pyrethin products. Some highly sensitive plants that are more susceptible to damage will be avoided when designing your system to protect them.
